17 HCWs on 3 days EECC course at KCMC

The Essential Emergency and Critical Care (EECC) Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop, held at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre (KCMC) University Anaesthesia Simulation Lab, brought together 17 healthcare professionals to strengthen capacity in the recognition and management of critical illness.

Conducted from 5th-7th March 2026, the workshop aimed to develop a sustainable model of care by equipping participants with both clinical and teaching competencies in EECC. Through a blended approach of focused lectures, hands-on skills stations, simulation-based training, and interactive discussions.

Participants gained practical experience in delivering low-cost, high-impact emergency and critical care interventions. Grounded in global best practices and local needs, the training addressed gaps in standardized care, variability in clinical response, and reliance on external facilitators. The workshop successfully established a core group of EECC champions who are expected to lead training, improve early recognition and management of critically ill patients, and enhance overall patient outcomes at KCMC and across the regional healthcare system.
