How life-saving EECC implementation can transform Tanzania’s Healthcare

Tanzania is taking a bold step toward revolutionizing emergency and critical care! With the urgent need to improve treatment for critically ill patients, the implementation of *Essential Emergency and Critical Care (EECC)* is proving to be a cost-effective, high-impact solution that can significantly reduce mortality rates.

Many critically ill patients in African hospitals receive treatment in general wards, often missing out on basic life-saving interventions like oxygen and IV fluids, But EECC is changing that! By focusing on simple, low-cost actions, healthcare professionals can provide timely and effective care, ensuring that no patient is left behind

With the Tanzanian government actively operationalizing a national strategic plan for EECC, supported by UNICEF and MUHAS, healthcare workers across six regions—including Dar es Salaam, Kigoma, Katavi, Songwe, Mtwara, and Zanzibar—are receiving specialized training to implement these life-saving procedures

This initiative is more than just a policy—it’s a movement toward accessible, quality healthcare for all. Every life matters, and EECC is here to make sure that every critically ill patient gets the care they deserve.
